Living On A Budget

Finally got paid today (albeit a few days late due to the long weekend including a national holiday on Monday) having been on the breadline for the last few weeks following my trip back to Britain in September. Its fair to say that I really have been frittering money away these last couple of years which may surprise those who know me as a shrewd spender (or even a tight-ar*ed git!) but I have had to return to my old ways recently.

I usually eat out twice a day as the kitchen in my apartment is just too small to do anything in and I finish work late so don’t want to be fannying about with cooking when I get home at around 10pm each night which is too late for me to eat. Instead, I have been drinking tap water, making ham sarnies and eating cup noodles (more commonly known as pot noodles outside of Japan) which despite their fairly jokey student-food image back home are actually enormously popular in Japan. On top of that I have also been running more regularly yet despite all of this I have incredibly put weight on which shocked me a bit. I never knew that these cup noodles were so high in calories!
