All Of The Modern Arty Toilets Which Featured In The Movie ‘Perfect Days’ (2023)

There’s been a lot of hype in Japan recently about the 2023 film release which has been nominated for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards which take place on March 10th in Hollywood.

Starring Koji Yakusho and directed by Wim Wenders, the film is called ‘Perfect Days‘ and is admittedly one that I had never heard of until it was reviewed on the ‘Kermode & Mayo’s Take‘ podcast last week. I immediately looked up where I could watch it and was surprised to discover that it was already at my disposal so my wife and I watched it at the weekend.

We went into it knowing very little and I was most surprised when I noticed the first modern toilet architectural design from a park in Ebisu which also possesses an octopus slide. As the movie continued, more and more of the arty toilet designs I’d covered in this Toilet Tour of Tokyo thread on Twitter/X began to appear.

Some of them also featured in the ‘Public Toilet Designs In Tokyo (Urine For A Treat!)’ series of posts here on Tokyo Fox.

When I have a bit more time I will do a proper in-depth post covering as many of the filming locations as possible but for now here is a guide to the toilets that featured in ‘Perfect Days‘. Please note that the timecodes given are for the first time the toilet appears on screen (some feature multiple times) and naturally times may vary slightly. The movie is 123 minutes long.
