It’s been five years since ‘No Time to Die‘ (2021) was finally released having been delayed a few times due to the global coronavirus pandemic. In the old days each and every James Bond movie was pretty much a standalone story but for Daniel Craig’s time as the double agent there has been some kind of continuity throughout. This fifth and final outing certainly puts a full stop on that story!

This 25th Eon-produced 007 movie has been fairly divisive among the Bond community but I actually liked it a lot and would certainly put it my all-time top ten James Bond films. It may have come out only half a decade ago now but it’s quite nostalgic for me due to the period when it was released. Not only was it during the Covid_19 era but the opening day in Japan was when there was a typhoon in Tokyo. That wasn’t going to stop me though and I took a complete change of clothes for when I got to the cinema!

Much of the action in ‘No Time to Die‘ takes place in the likes of Norway, Italy and Jamaica but it eventually moves to London on 64 minutes where Bond retrieves his old V8 Vantage from storage among the railway arches on Centaur Street in Lambeth just south of Waterloo.

It’s the same car that featured in ‘The Living Daylights‘ (1987) and it should be noted that the image of him driving out of the underground parking space was flipped in the editing process.

He is seen moments later pulling up outside the Ministry of Defence having parked the car on Whitehall Court. 

He then crosses Horseguards Avenue and heads towards the imposing entrance to the Ministry of Defence. The interior scenes were shot at Senate House which is part of the University of London in Bloomsbury. 

Needing to extract critical information from a memory stick, Bond and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) go to see Q (Ben Whishaw) on 70 minutes at his home on 42 Roupell Street near Waterloo. They are seen on the intercom but zoom into that screenshot and the houses in the background are recognisable.

This is the actual door to Q’s house but of course it isn’t really so please respect that this is someone’s property and don’t hang around too long in the area.

The stick contains a database of agents worldwide with the only surviving member of SPECTRE being Blofeld. Bond seeks to interrogate him but he says he will only speak to Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux), now a psychotherapist working in London. She is seen crossing The Mall on 73 minutes, the grand ceremonial road which leads to Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of York’s Steps lead up to 10-11 Carlton House Terrace where Madeleine runs her practice. Her patient is revealed to be Safin (Rami Malek), the mysterious masked man who spared her life as a child in the opening segment of the film. He now wants something in return.

Meanwhile, Bond meets with M (Ralph Fiennes) on 77 minutes in front of the Furnivall Sculling Club on the Lower Mall riverfront by Hammersmith Bridge.

Bill Tanner (Rory Kinnear), M’s Chief of staff, turns up at the end and tells M there’s been a development and that’s pretty much the end of our time in London as the action moves on to Norway.

Those first four locales were all done on foot with relative ease but a train was needed for my final port of call, just a short walk south of Hammersmith station in the west of the capital.

The gap between ‘Spectre‘ (2015) and ‘No Time to Die‘ (2021) felt really long but things have been moving even slower since then and it seems like the follow up to the Daniel Craig era could be quite a wait. In the meantime, we can only speculate about the future of the franchise and enjoy the last arc of Bond movies which very much wrapped up with the fifth installment.
