Never judge a film by it’s title was certainly true for this one. I was aware of this movie for a few years but knew absolutely nothing about it other than it’s dull title! Consequently, I scrolled by it each and every time I was looking for something to stream. Sadly I can’t remember what changed my mind and made me investigate it a bit further but I’m glad I did as it turned out to be a very good movie albeit a rather silly one!
The 1970s-style council estate house where Eggsy (Taron Eggerton) lives with his mum and abusive stepdad is first shown on 2 minutes and then again 10 minutes later. It is the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate at 90B Rowley Way which is a short walk from South Hampstead Underground Station.
The Kingsman shop (below) is first seen on 8 minutes, and is located at 11 Savile Row which runs parallel to Regent Street. In reality it’s called Huntsman & Sons, and Piccadilly Circus is the nearest Underground Station, just seven minutes away on foot.
The local pub where Harry Hart (Colin Firth) displays his combat skills on some disorderly youths is the Black Prince (6 Black Prince Road, Kennington) which is about 15 minutes on foot from Kennington tube station on the Northern Line. It’s actually just down the road from another pub which was in ‘Snatch‘ (2000); a film that director Matthew Vaughn also worked on albeit as producer that time. It first features on 12 and 18 minutes respectively.
Eggsy steals a car but after a high-speed backwards car chase he crashes it on 15 minutes on Corbridge Crescent, alongside the canal in Cambridge Heath. The bridge in the background is about the only recognisable landmark in the two pictures below. By the way, a location from ‘Fast & Furious 6‘ (2013) is just round the corner from here.
Holborn Police Station (below) is where Eggsy is taken to after being arrested. It appears on 17 minutes and is on the corner of Richbell Place and Lamb’s Conduit Street, just seven minutes on foot from Holborn Underground Station.
Harry Hart’s home is located at 11 Stanhope Mews South, just a couple of minutes south of Gloucester Road tube station.
