Season one (as well as the prequel season zero) of alphabet dating certainly pushed the boundaries of what a “date” is, and that continues in season two with some very tenuous examples for each letter of the alphabet. For the record, doing something together (no matter what it is!) counts as a date in this series which is not always about visiting glamorous places and doing exciting things but just getting out there and exploring locations we wouldn’t normally go to. Without further ado lets continue with season two and what we did for the third set of letters…
K is for Koenji (September 2022)
When we lived in Shinjuku-ku, my wife and I used to visit this wonderful area quite often but trips are far less frequent these days. It felt nice to walk around the area to see how its changed and of course to revisit some of our favourite shops.
L is for Laotian Food (September 2022)
My wife and I have been to a lot of countries in South-East Asia but we have never been to Laos together. Food from the country probably lives in the shadows of its more famous neighbouring countries but when I saw there was a restaurant in Tokyo serving up Lao cuisine (as well as Thai food) I thought it’d be a good place to go for lunch one day.
M is for Grilled Meat Barbecue (September 2022)
Quite possibly one of the cheapest all-you-can-eat meat deals in Tokyo. My wife noticed this place as we walked between Akihabara and Okachimachi one day. Nearly every other diner in this place seemed to be male and alone. I enjoyed this place more than my other half though I wonder how much of that was just down to the price!
N is for Nepalese Food (September 2022)
Another choice from my wife and one that just happened to work perfectly for the next letter in the alphabet. We were just wandering around the Oyama area of Itabashi ward when she spotted another cheap lunch time deal. There were four choices of curry plus rice, naan bread, salad, fries, fried chicken and drinks. I was so impressed that I have returned there since.
O is for Omiya Park (October 2022)
After three successive food-based “dates” I thought we’d best do something else for this letter. The large wooded park in Omiya is a lovely place just a short distance north of Tokyo which contains many features such as the ancient Hikawa Jinja Shrine, a lake, a museum, a childrens playground and zoo and a few sports stadiums too.
